Fretboard binding made easier - G&W Binding Gluing Jig
Binding Gluing Jig:
guitarsandwoods.com/binding-gluing-jig.html
Why bound fretboards?
Having binding on a fretboard enhances durability by protecting the edges from wear and tear, thereby extending the life of your guitar. It improves playability by offering smooth, bound edges that prevent sharp fret ends, making playing more comfortable.
Additionally, binding adds a polished, professional look to the instrument, increasing its aesthetic appeal. It also contributes to the structural integrity of the fretboard, helping to maintain its shape and alignment for consistent performance.
This jig is designed to help you in the process of binding fretboards.
It is affordable and easy to use, providing the perfect gluing platform.
Get yours on our website:

Remember to use some waxed paper or a plastic film in order to prevent the fretboard to stick to the jig.
Please notice the jig featured in the video is a prototype test unit, the consumer version will not have any dent or finish defect.

Drilling tuner holes for acoustic/classical guitar made easy - G&W - Tuner Drilling Jig
whats that unit called?
Hey! The product itself is called "Ultimate tuner pin locator". You can find links for all the products used in the video description.
Nice jig BUT what is the purpose of the distracting noise?
What about another for a tele body?
It is a good idea, although it might turn out a pretty big jig ;)
The small piece at the end of the fretboard sits between the outside binding.
@@enriquegarcia8691 Thanks for your answer, although we might argue that the ending bit was for video making purposes as we are not making any finished instrument in our facilities. Good building!
Love it!
Can this truss rod jig work for a heel spoke wheel type truss rod installation?
Hi there! You can simply move the router base stoppers and route the truss rod cavity in any position you like :)
Having worked in a guitar factory we never drill tuner holes to finish size we always ream
His website gallery of instruments is stunning. Beautiful designs!
Beautiful. I wish we could have heard that beauty.
thanks for the help! i was really confused for my project where to drill the holes, but why does it have to be 6 degrees? can it be perfectly horizontal if i don't use the jig?
Hi! Thanks for your feedback! 6 degrees is simply the best approaching angle for your drill bit. With this angle you'll get the most comfortable access to the cavity with your drill and it will prevent you from drilling into the pickup cavity. Of course if you manage to make an horizontal hole it will not affect the spring claw's function ;)
@@GWLuthierSupplies thanks for the help!
Grande Adriano!! ❤❤
Not listed on the website??
This model is no longer available. We are currently trying to source other 0.6mm bits, sorry
Brilliant jigs.
This is brilliant
Muito boa ideia entretanto nada otimizada.Very good idea, but nothing optimized.
Good jig but if the sled is a true 12" radius here, the fretboard will be smaller by how much you lower the bit
The sides are compensated to give the correct radius, which is calculated for a 6.3mm thickness over a 20mm block. Of course, if you lower the bit more than that it will give a slightly different radius. But this slight difference can be easily adjusted when sanding with a radius sanding block.
notice you troll each person who makes these.
@stridersmythe8860 lol says he troll. Both of them had the same issue so get a f life

Your Jigs are fine...but horrible guitar music..:(
Amazing video. Do you guys have any jigs to create the neck angle just like for example for a les paul junior? thanks
great jig! just turn down your background music as its too loud and use something more ambient as what you have here is super agitating
indeed
Awesome
Can you get accurate measurements at frets higher up the board with this tool? Say at the 12th fret? StewMac says that their similar tool is not accurate higher up the neck, because the string tension is looser, and the weight of the plunger moves the string, giving you an inaccurate reading. I guess it depends on how the plunger and its spring are set up.
None of them will be. Check out LMI luthiers. They have a digital string height guage. It's accurate. I got it for $48. The nut slotting guage does exactly as described.
How do you account for the gravity/weight of the gauge probe, especially on the high E string at the 1st fret? Did you check with feeler gauges to see if there was a discrepancy between the readings? Thanks!
gosh thats so annoying with that guitar in the background.
I agree just horrid stuff
@G&W Luthier Supplies This is my review on your jig: ua-cam.com/video/AlAcVwo5DWg/v-deo.html
Awesome Explanation!! I have a co-worker that has a Les Paul Epiphone Model Guitar. The headstock was broken by his ex girlfriend, I want to help him out the best way I can, having Spline Jig would help me out, how much does it cost?
Hello, you can find it here guitarsandwoods.com/neck-spline-jig.html. Thanks.
Just ordered, and it arrived in 2 days from Portugal to UK. How is that even possible? That is some lightning fast quality! 🫡🤟
I love this video! Is there any limitation to the overall height of a fretboard already mounted on the neck? Obviously it can fit under the jig. If I did the math correctly, I would think that the radius remains the same, regardless of the distance in which the fretboard is positioned in relation to the sled? Thanx in advance and cheers from Germany!
Hello there! The jig was developed considering the 20mm of the aluminium base (where the fretboard sits) in order to end up with the best rough radius and a thickness of 6.5mm at the fretboard center. You can adjust your process considering this would be the perfect scenario. Thanks!
@@GWLuthierSupplies excellent! thanx so much for your fast reply!
Could I shim the nut edge of the fretboard ~1mm to get a more consistant overall thickness at the edges when the fretboard is sawed into shape? So that i can get a more even depth for fretboard binding?
We never tried that but I guess it should be no problem, maybe you want to shim 0.5mm in the middle of the fretboard as well to get it even in that area. Thank you.
@@GWLuthierSupplies Thanks! Will try, have placed the v4 jig in my shopping cart! :)
Please turn off the music or turn up the voiceover.

would like to order, but site is down.
Sorry, we are under bot attack, so we had to shut server down. we hope we can get back tomorrow.
Did you discontinue this product? It says unavailable on your link and also your main website was messed up when I tried to click on it. Thanks
No, its available and in stock, search for Binding Routing Jig. Sorry for the site mess but we had some issues the last few days, you may need to clean your cache or cookies. Thanks.
I like this jig
Your site is a freaking night mare. I want this rig: but I cannot find it on you bloody store
Thanks for your kindly comment and enquiry. You can find this item on the webstore searching for the title of this video "Fretboard Radius Jig V4". Best regards.
Hi, what are the dimensions of the aluminum base? Also, are you guys working on a V5 of this jig?
Nice tool! Some room for improvement: butterfly wing nut screws would make it much easier/faster to fastening the fret.
Thanks for your suggestion. Wing nuts would be impossible as the holes are very close to each other, so we're looking forward to try thumbscrews in the near future.
@@GWLuthierSupplies Even better (or move the holes apart so they are not parallell, then wing nut screws will fit too)
You have to be brave and/or insane to do that freehand! I would definitely screw up every board! :D
Lol. Moral of the story? Don't buy a Gibson. Headstock design is stupid.
Not easy tool...free hand? Only very much difficult and too much time to spend, precision? 🤔😡
The locking screw block to go only down but the tool could go up free? And what kind of makita could I mount? A lot of thanks🙏🙏waiting for you
The locking screw, prevents the router to fall down, and to keep the router at a desired height. You can use it with a makita rt0700c. Thanks.
Questo jig ha una manopola di fermo. Ma quando lo fermo in altezza lui continua a seguire la forma della chitarra in altezza? Cioè il fermo funziona per nn far andare la fresa in basso ma la rende libera di alzarsi? Grazie
Great jig, very well made!
This jig looks like a good idea to drill the 10mm hole angle but you still need to take into account that you need to drill the inner 6mm hole to connect both ends with the truss rod route drilling the 6mm connection by eye getting the angle right is not an easy task you could upgrade the jig by including a 6mm collet that fits into that 10mm pilot hole that way you know you will get the 6mm hole centered and flush with the bottom of the truss rod route
Great idea. Doing this by hand is killing me
I goings to make one all alum and acrilic
Круто! Я залип!
Neat idea. Shame out of stock
They should be back in stock next week. Thanks.
